Canucks Assign Veteran Defenseman Travis Hamonic to the AHL

Updated: Nov 25, 2021

Travis Hamonic has officially been assigned to the AHL as they head out on a three-game road trip to the U.S.

Ben Kuzma confirms on twitter that this is due to the fact that Hamonic isn't fully vaccinated yet.

Jack Rathbone has been called up to replace Hamonic on defense.

Rathbone (22) has now appeared in 8 games so far this season, and currently has 0 points with a rating of -3.

Jack's most recent appearance for Vancouver was in a 2-1 loss to the Oilers before being sent down to the AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks. This road trip will be a great opportunity for the rookie defenseman to prove his worth to this team.

The Canucks road trip begins on Thursday Night against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena in Denver. From there they head to Las Vegas to play the Golden Knights on Saturday Night, then to Anaheim to play the Ducks on Sunday Night.
