Must See: Ryan Hartman suspended for nasty hit on Nikolaj Ehlers (VIDEO)

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

There has been plenty happen around the league in the past 48 hours, but something that hasn't been talked about enough is this terrible hit that sent Nikolaj Ehlers flying to the ice during last night's central division clash between the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild.

This particular sequence took place in the third period, when the Jets led the Wild 3-1. Kirill Kaprizov scored a powerplay goal early in the third, and quickly became a target of the Jets players.

Ehlers laid out a decent hit on Kaprizov, who was just playing in his second game back after returning from an Injury. This clearly set off Hartman who immediately retaliated on Ehlers, knocking him to the ice (See Below).

On Wednesday, the Department of Player Safety announced a 1-game suspension for Ryan Hartman due to the severity of the hit.

Hartman was not initially penalized for the hit, however, moments later he received a two-minute Roughing minor on Jets forward Vladislav Namestnikov.

This was a hard fought game between these divisional opponents, however, Winnipeg came out victorious 3-1 as they clinched the final playoff spot in the West.

If these two teams were to meet at a later round in the playoffs, it appears it may be an absolute bloodbath.
