Another player has joined the NHL’s Player Assistance program, out indefinitely

There has been an uptick on players joining the NHL's Player assistance program this season. The program ensures that players get the help they need for several possible issues including substance abuse.

Ethan Bear joins the NHLPA program

Ethan Bear of the Washington Capitals has joined the Program, the team announced on Wednesday evening.

The reason for Bear joining the Program has not been released by the team at this time.

The blueliner joined the Capitals on a two-year deal in December, and has since appeared in 24 games, scoring one goal and adding three assists.

The 26-year-old has taken a leave of absence from the team for the time being. He will return to the team once he is cleared for on-ice competition by the program administrators.

The Capitals have recently taken over the Red Wings for that second wildcard position in the Eastern Conference.

We wish Bear nothing but the best in his recovery.
