The Columbus Blue Jackets benched their star defenseman following a defensive zone turnover which led to a goal for the Red Wings.
The newly acquired Damon Severson, received from the New Jersey Devils during the offseason, had spent the entire third period spectating from the bench in their 4-3 defeat to the Red Wings (Watch Below).
Severson was known for his frequent giveaways during his 9-year tenure with the Devils.
Severson is currently in year one of an 8-year, $50M contract.
