Six teams linked to Elias Lindholm in potential blockbuster trade

There are now multiple teams confirmed to have interest in acquiring the forward, as the March 8 trade deadline fast approaches.

One of the most intriguing names on the trading block prior to the deadline is Elias Lindholm. He carries a cheap cap hit which would make him a primal target for teams looking to add a skilled playmaker for the playoffs on a short-term loan.

The team reportedly most likely to land the former superstar happens to be one of the best teams in the league, and one of the frontrunners to win the Stanley Cup this season.

Canucks interested in acquiring Lindholm

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet has linked the Vancouver Canucks to Elias Lindholm.

The Canucks look to bolster their forward group by adding a second-line centerman, and Elias Lindholm looks like he could be a fantastic fit for Vancouver.

You can read the full quote from Friedman below.

The other thing that the fans are also going to be wondering about is… what they do at the deadline, and there’s no question that they are looking hard at a top-six forward—somebody preferably with flexibility. And you know, the word is they’re looking at about four or five different players. I think one is [Jake] Guentzel, I think another is [Elias] Lindholm from Calgary, but there’s more. And it’s our job to try to figure out who they are. But there’s no doubt a top-six forward is number one on Vancouver’s radar Elliotte Friedman reported during a broadcast on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old Lindholm has just 8 goals, 22 assists in 46 games with the Flames this season. While he is not producing at the high level he once was, he could use a change of scenery to a destination like Vancouver where he will have a chance to shine surrounded by talented forwards, and elite puck moving defensemen.

The skilled centerman would likely come to Vancouver as a loan unless the correct pieces are sent back to Calgary to clear cap space. The Canucks will need to prioritize signing their franchise superstar in Elias Pettersson, and other key pieces like Dakota Joshua, Sam Lafferty and Teddy Blueger who have been valuable assets to this team.

While the Canucks appear to be the frontrunner at the moment, there are also multiple other teams interested in acquiring Lindholm.

Five other teams interested in Lindholm

It is being reported that there are five other teams looking at a potential Lindholm trade. Those teams include the Avalanche, Bruins, Jets, Hurricanes and Capitals.

The once 40-goal scorer would be an excellent fit on Vancouver's second line between Dakota Joshua and Conor Garland, both exceeding expectations already this year.

His six-year deal expires at the end of this year, which carries a cap hit of $4.85M. He is expected to receive a significant raise in Salary in the off-season.
