Trevor Zegras to miss significant time due to injury

Updated: Jan 12

The Anaheim Ducks have been struggling with injuries to their young players as of late. They have now lost yet another one of their elite young players to an unexpected injury. And his timeline for return is not anytime soon.

In a puck battle with Predators' Juuso Parssinen, Zegras fell awkwardly into the boards and had to be helped off the ice by teammates during the first period.

He left the game immediately following this. You can watch the video below:

Now on Thursday evening, we have received a timeline from the Anaheim Ducks for Zegras' expected return from injury.

Zegras sidelined 6-8 weeks

Zegras suffered a broken ankle on Tuesday and will have surgery in the near future. He will be out for approximately 6-8 weeks, the Anaheim Ducks posted to X on Thursday evening.

The post also mentions Pavel Mintyukov will be out for approximately six weeks with a separated shoulder. This will be another huge blow to the Ducks.

The 22-year-old has been struggling this season, with just seven points in 19 games for the Ducks. He did, however, score two goals against the Red Wings on Sunday.

Zegras has missed 20 games this season due to a lower-body injury, and recently rejoined the team on December 23 against Seattle.
